Overall Ranking 8.4
( please note that Formatting may change when in E-Mail Format.)
Offense 8.7Line- Dan Koppen is hurt but the line is still intacked with Logan Mankins and Matt light. Light and Mankins are two of the best linemen in the league. Vollemer is also a above average linemen. With Koppen Out Wendell starts. He is okay but Koppen was a pro bowler when healthy. Dan Conolly is also a above average O-lone player.
7.7
Quarterback- Tom Brady is still a top five QB and though he is now throwing more interceptions he is also hitting welker and Branch for plenty of yards. A few more targets would be nice but Hernandez and Gronkowski are elite TE’s. Ryan Mallet is a legit back up who could be the heir apparent for Brady. Mallet was a beast in college, Brian Hoyer adds depth and experience (3)
10
Wide Receivers- Wes Welker is the best WR this year, maybe tied with Calvin Johnson. Welker is small, fast and quick. With Moss and Tate gone and their receiving core being Welker, Branch, Edleman and Ocho-cinco. Branch is still good but only because he is a number 2 and has great correlation with Brady. Ocho is washed up and in my perspective should be released. Edleman is quick and a good number 4 receiver and KP/PR. Matt Slater and Taylor Price have some potential and add depth.
8
Tight End- Gronk and Hernandez are the best TE duo in the league. Gronk is big and a great lead blocker/blocker while Hernandez is almost a WR. Both score TD’s and confuse D’s. They are one of the only teams that can pass in a twin TE formation. That formation means the TE’s are blocking for a RB. Dan Gronkowski is back on the roster for depth.
9.5
Running backs- Ben-Jarvis Green Ellis is a above average work horse and Danny Woodhead is a fan fav. Neither are stars. They form a good duo of inside outside HB’s. The pats have no real FB so the TE’s provide the outside blocking. Shane Vereen and Steven Ridely could become a future dominate RB couple. Kevin Faulk was a good RB on 3rd downs. Faulk tore his ACL last year but will return this week or next.
7.8
Defense 7.5
Line- Haynesworth, Ty Warren and Wilfrok were suppose to be a great line, but Ty Warren was waived and Haynesworth Stinks/sinks. Haynesworth is old, fat and rusty. He isn’t practicing and is out of shape. Wilfork leads our team in interceptions and Warren is in a broncos uniform. With out Ty warren and Haynesworth dealing with different injuries Cunninham and Pryor were the fill ins. Then Pryor got hurt leaving Veteran Gerald Warren to start.
7.8
Linebacker(s)- Mayo, Guyton and Nincovich were the starters and only Mayo got hurt leaving Veteran Brandon Spikes as a starter. Spikes is good and when Mayo returns could start over guyton. Guyton is solid. Wilhite was released but would have helped a lot.
8
Secondary- Chung, Meriwhether and Mccourty were supposed to be a great secondary. Both Deion Butler and Springs were supposed to backup the starters but were released. Then they waived Meriweather and now Chung is dealing with a thumb injury. Rookie Nate Solder and Kyle Arrington both start but solder is failing with the oats horrible secondary. Seems slow against the pass and can‘t catch guys like Roddy White, Anquan Boldin, Santiono Holmes and Calvin Johnson.
6.2
Special Teams
Blockers- The Pats use Both Gronks and a few other big line players. Both prospects Steven Ridley and Matt Slater. Slater is a young WR and Ridley has a few returns. Some backup linemen play in the Special Teams.
8
Returner(s)- Edleman is a above average returner and Wes Welker is back to returning. I would have liked to see Tate comeback as a special teams player but he is a Bengal. Welker was a great P/K R before he tore his ACL.
8.2
Kicker(s)- Stephen Gowstowski is a top 10 kicker and Mesko is a above average P. I like Mesko but he doesn’t have great punts all the time but is a George favorite. Gos is a Great kicker who was even better before he tore his ACL.
