Albert is on the Move, Again

The NE Patriots released DE Albert Haynesworth. Haynesworth was once considered the best defensive player in the NFL by many people. Since then he has played for 3 teams in 1 ½ years…………..And Counting            In 2002 the Tennessee Titans drafted DE Albert Haynesworth, as a rook Albert established Himself as a strong powerful line men. A year latter he continued his strong play. In 2005 he had a amazing 3 sacks, 52 Tackles and was finally were people thought he should be, a elite star in the NFL. A year latter he missed 6 games and had just 30 tackles. He would begin to have back issues that would hamper him for years to come. He had never played a full 16 game schedule. He was joined by Hiesman Front runner, Vince Young, a young star QB. Young Would be a Titan for a few years but never reached MVP caliber. In 2008 Haynesworth was considered a pro bowler, star, Established Veteran and a Elite D-Line. He then had one of the single best defensive seasons the NFL had ever seen. He recorded 41 solo tackles and 10 assisted to reach 51 (1 fewer than his career high) and a outstanding 8.5 sacks. That is still a career best. But the Titans had failed to be a contender and only a only a few people could see Chris Johnson and Kenny Britt would ever be stars. He also was a free agent looking for a big contract because the Titans did not think he was worth the asking price and knew he did not have a great back. They saw that his best days were behind him. The He scored one (Big Contract)!!! A 100 million seven year contract. As a Red Skin he had a okay drop . As the season closed he had 38 tackles and 4 sacks in 12 games. He was expected to be a elite DE for years then the skins signed Mike Shanahan and Donavan McNabb. Donavan McNabb had been a Eagle since 1999 but after Terrel Owens left, Reggie Brown got hurt and Kevin Kolb had been drafted they let him go. Shanahan was a experienced coach but he had let the Broncos down. At one point the had Peyton Hillis, Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall, Champ Bailey, Daniel Graham and Selvin Young but managed to win just 7 games. Brandon Marshall, Champ Bailey and Peyton Hillis have all made pro bowls since then but he had failed to notice there potential. Non of them are still broncos’. The Red Skins Handed both this coach (Shanahan) and QB (McNabb) massive contracts. He then refused to report to training camp right away and when he finally did he was rejected for being out of shape. His back then slowed down his attempt at getting in shape and forced him to sit out most of the pre season and training camp. After the dispute was settled he played 8 games (a career low) and recorded another career low in 16 total tackles. The Red Skins then made two big moves sending away Haynesworth and McNabb to Minnesota and NE. In a attempt to revitalize his career Albert went to NE. In a patriots uniform people saw Haynesworth, Ellis (Shaun) and Wilfork as a legendary trio. Shaun Ellis was once known as the Patriots killer but he had been a Jet then. Vince Wilfork, Jerrod Mayo, Brandon Meriwheather, Tom Brady and Wes Welker finally gave Haynes worth a winning team. Then the front office waived players such as Leigh Bodden, Brandon Meriwheather and a few other good defensive players. Haynesworth appeared out of shape and as the pre season neared he began missing practices and press believed it was because of his back. He then missed the first game of the preseason for almost un explained reasons. He managed to play in just a couple pre season games. Though he survived the cuts rumors began circulating that he would be cut along with former Bengal’s wide receiver Chad Ocho-Cinco. Ocho had joined the pats via trade this off season and also appeared out of shape. Though Ocho did play he did not play well. Then the pats welcomed the return of Ron Brace and the continuation of Haynesworth’s back injury forced the pats to cut his 10+ million a year salary. At first it seemed that the Jets, Eagles, Titans and Bucs all had interest. The Jets had the best two CB’s of any team (maybe not the Eagles , Talent Wise) and had a few good LB but needed a DL to re place the departed Shaun Ellis. The Eagles were losing and had a failing Run D despite paying huge amounts of money for star Defensive players last off season. Both seem to be perfect fits but neither bit. Then prognosticators thought the Titans would bring back Haynesworth, but no. NE coach Bill Belichick then said Haynesworth lacked Effort. Rumors began circulating that Haynesworth would go to Detriot and become a strong Tio with Suh and Nick Fairley but that was false. The Bucs were the only team that put a claim in on Haynesworth. The Buc head coach Morris, said “He will play a limited role” the GM says he has a short leash on this former pro bowler, and that he would not have been picked up had Gerald McCoy not been injured. Haynesworth will start his first game as a Buc Sunday, starting over Roy Miller.
