Assasin's Creed 3

First let me start by saying congrats Steve, who has served almost 2 months with the G-Talk and now has become the Head of Gamer Department.   Congrats, Anyway here is his first article as head of Team.  First one quick thing, it was not written by me so it may sound differently. And within 1 week our massive HALO article will be published along with a smaller MW3 by our assistant gamer team member Al, whom you might remember from Al's end.

!Spoiler Alert!

ASSASSINS CREED III

Assassins Creed III is the fifth game in an outstanding series of games by Ubisoft®. Yes! I said Ubisoft®! People don’t usually think Ubisoft® when they think of good video games, well, they did a fantastic with this game series. I have not played Assassins Creed I, II, Revelations, or Brotherhood, but I have heard that they are all good, but Assassins Creed III tops them all.

Assassins Creed III takes place in 1750-1780’s and is in the American colonies before and during the Revolutionary War. At first you play as a man named Haytham Kenway from England who is set off to the Colonies to find a “Precursor” site, which by my understanding, is a race, the first race, of humans EVER who had very advanced technology. This technology can apparently save the world, but not from just bad guys, but the planet. Specifically, December 21st, 2012. The Revolutionary War is the main story, but a man named Desmond Miles is the true main character. He is one of the Assassins in modern day America who has found the precursor site that Haytham found but couldn’t get into. And Desmond is using an ancient high-tech device called the “Aminus” to review his ancestors in the colonies to find another key they need inside the site to try to save the world.

You mainly play as Connor Kenway , who is Haytham’s son whom he doesn’t know about, and is a Native American born in the 1760’s as a part of the Mohawk tribe.

Now back to Haytham. Haytham, as we know, is also looking for the precursor site and with the help of a Mohawk woman, who gives birth to Connor later. He then goes back to a tavern in Boston with his friends and inaugurates a man named Charles Lee, whom has been a large help to Haytham on his adventures up to the end of sequence 3 of the game. At the tavern, he is turned into a Templar. And they’re the bad guys. The enemies of the Assassins. They seek the same artifacts and keys the modern Assassins seek, but they don’t know it will save the world.

Now fast forward a few years to Connor’s childhood and he confronts a man. Keep in mind he is a Native and doesn’t like any outsiders other than other friendly tribes. While playing hide and seek with his friends in the village in sequence 4, he is confronted by Charles Lee, a new Templar in the colonies, threatens the boy and the village saying to move off the land. Connor replays by asking Lee’s name. he is told his name and Lee asks why. Connor reply’s “so I can find you”. The meaning of this is beyond me currently, as I have not finished the game because there is so much to explore and so many levels filled with action! The only revolutionary war event I have seen is the Boston Massacre!

Anyway, Connor is now the character you will play as for the rest of the game and Haytham is now your mortal enemy. Connor knows he is Haytham’s son, but not vice versa. By now Connor is probably around 18. Connor eventually goes to his village elder and gets a message from the precursors saying he is the “chose one” which why I haven’t really figured out yet. His elder knows this and tells Connor to go find a man living at a settlement by himself. This man is one of the few Assassins in the Colonies.

After a walk through the Frontier you find this man’s house but he will not let you in his house. So you decide to stay in the man’s stable behind his house. But in the middle of the night he is awoken by voices. You are awoken by some Templar soldiers who came to kill the old man. You actually engage all of them(around eight of them) in an epic fight with your stone Tomahawk and they die tragically. This proves to the old man coincidentally that you are worthy to become an Assassin.

This is as far as I’m going to go in the campaign as I am only a little beyond this part and I don’t want to spoil the whole game now do I? but there are definitely some of you thinking if there is a multiplayer. There is! And it’s wicked fun! It’s not as huge as a multiplayer like Call Of Duty®’s or Halo®’s but that is fine. The multiplayer that Assassin Creed III has is very fun and contains a ranking up system. This ranking up system gives you points which you can use to customize a variety of characters in any way you want! My personal favorite is the Hessian! In these multiplayer games you will play on maps with significant importance in the campaign. Game modes include Team Death match, in which there are 2 teams and you have to find the other team in a crowd of tons of people that look very identical. But there are special ways to tell a player from a non-player. For example, the way they move. Also there is my favorite- death match which is a free-for-all in which each player has a specific target, which is any other random player, whom they have to kill. I haven’t played any other game types so I’ll leave them to you to enjoy!

In summary, Assassin’s Creed III is a game for those of you who like very long and in depth campaigns that use history to tell a fictional story, and don’t have major multiplayers. This is now in my number 2 slot on my favorite video games ever, number 1 being Halo 4, and number 3 being Minecraft.

Until next time, this is Steven from The George Talk!

I’ll be playing some Assassin’s Creed if you need me.
