Bruins D

over the long and proud history of the Boston Bruins many great players have played for the Bruins.  Jerry Cheevers, Tim Thomas, Joe Thornton, Patrice Bergeron, Marc Savard, Marco Sturm and a plenty of other greats.  However one constant in the bruins dynasty is an elite defensive star, perhaps the best in the L.  It all started in the 70's when Bobby Ore challenged Messier and Grestky as the top players in the league.   After a shortened but amazing career Ore left the bruins and later retired.  Since then two other hall of fame defensemen have played for the bruins and maybe more....   In the 90's and early 2000's  Ray Borque was an elite scorer and even better defender.   He became a Boston legend joining the likes of  Bobby Ore, Jerry Cheevers and many others in the rafters.  After Borque's retirement the bruins dark age began.  Struggling to make the playoffs until 2008 Joe Thorton appeared as the lone bright spot.   After genius trades Zdeno Chara became the leader of a young elite bruins team.  Vets Savard, Sturm, Satan, Reechi and Tim Thomas helped the Bruins become a force again but the 6'9 Zdeno Chara was arguably the top defensive player.   Chara is the largest player in league history and may be a hall of famer.  Along side Chara in recent years includes Siedenburg, Wideman, Ference and Dougie Hamilton.  I am sure everyone has heard about the new up and coming star. The providence product Tory Krug has emerged over the playoffs.  Krug was an undrafted providence player who played the entire regular season in the Boston minors (providence)   since being called up he has arguably became the hottest defenseman in the league.  They stay defense wins super bowls, I sure hope it wins Stanley Cups.
