The "center" NBA issue

Before you read it please under stand this article is NOT about the lockout, which is over . The NBA players association recertified before the deadline and the Lockout officially ends December 9th. Players able to go any facility as of now. That means Rondo could go to a lakers facility but this option is mostly for F/A who want to be a Laker but live or have played in Denver. It alsao means if a player like K.G who lives in Malabu he can go to a Lakers facility until traing camps open December 9thIn the NBA the lightest position has been Center. But this off season plenty of rumors have centers moving, first off star center Yao Ming is retired which leaves the rockets Center list. Last season they started the 6-6 Chuck Hayes but the only center on there roster is Hasheem Thabeet. They really want Denver Center Nene. If Denver gets Nene then former Knick Center Timofey Mosgov becomes a starter. Mosgov left the knicks after starting the majority of there games. He left in the Carmelo deal. The Knicks how ever have 1 okay center named Ronny Turiaf. Turiaf is a career back up for the Wariors but I can only see him as a Back up big man. He struggled all season and the postseason. The Knicks think that Kwame Brown can start for them if they snag him from the Bobcats. Kwame played for the 2001 wizards after being the 1st overall pick but has never lived up to his potential. The Bobcats have also had their share of center problems, they traded away Tyson Chandler, Emeka Oakafor, Erik Dampier and Narze Muhammad all in a span of three years. Chandler was a injury prone Bulls start but at the time (2006) Eddy Curry out played him. Curry signed a big contract in NY and Chandler in NO. Chandler then was traded to the Bobcats for Oakafor but that didn’t last long. The Cats traded him for Matt Caroll, Najera and Dampier but then waived Dampier. The Mavs ended up with Tyson. He is currently a F/A but only a few teams can afford him. Dallas, Chicago, Maimi Warriors, Rockets and Nets are the main suitors. Numerous reports say he wants close to the Max deal, let’s just say I thought he was overpaid making 7 million per year he wants arround 20. If he does leave Dallas, (Which is likely) then Brenden Haywood becomes a starter. Haywood was formerly a wizard but struggles and the Arenas breakdown forced him to move. The Wizards are starting a young but talented Javale Magee. He was a excellent shot blocker and a George fav. At the other end of the Spectrum the Celtics lose Shaq to retirement, Kristic to Russia and it appears that JaJaun Johnson or Jermaine Oniel will start…….. Unless they sign a F/A. A few other teams are moving Centers. The LA clippers want to trade Chris Kaman who fell apart last season due to DeAndre Jordan and injuries. Meanwhile second year man Jordan enjoyed a break out. Rumors believe that the 76ers will trade SF/SG Andre Igudala for Kaman. If this happens then the 76ers will likely use the amnesty clause on Elton Brand, making spencer Hawes and Mareese Speights the main post players (outside Kaman). Both of those two are young like Marc Gasol, a restricted F/A from Memphis but I believe that they will match any offer. Into Oregon, The Warriors will probably waive Andris Biedrins with the Amnesty clause as David Lee and Epke Udoh can pick up the pace. Staying in Oregon The Trailblazer will lilkey try to sign a few veteran centers to replace Free agent Greg Oden and backup Marcus Camby. The Heat are the main suitor for Oden but the Balzers offered him 8.9 million. He was a big disappointment after a amazing college career. Personally I would like to see him a Celtic because he reminds me of Bill Walton. He will be ready to play In January. Meanwhile the heat will start Joel Anthony (career defensive specialist backup) and Big Z (shooting center). In other blazer news the GM said that waiving star SG Brandon Roy with the amnesty clause is not a guarentee. The Suns however WILL waive Vince carter as soon as possible using the amnesty clause. The Heat may use the same clause on Mike Miller, if so the knicks will go after him, the knick also want to pick up Biedrins and any C possible. Among those centers are Kurt Thomas who started a few games for the Bulls. He is 39 and still kicking. Meanwhile the Jazz have a huge amount of big men. Millsap, Favors, Jefferson and Ak-47 can all play PF while Favors, Jafferson, Okur, Kanter and Fesenko can play C. Okur will probably be waived with the Amnesty clause and AK-47 (Andrie Kirenleko) is a F/A. The Pacers havew almost no big man. Roy Hibbert and Hansbrough are there only men but if West signs they should be good. F/A Jeff Foster is aging but seeing him as a pacer.   please do NOT forget to vote on our rare LBJ survey at the home page
