George talk update:
Ok over Christmas vacation
(15 of December- 15 of January) a time which we all took off we had some tech
problems and as a result the Music section (MONO productions) will be leaving,
luckily a yet to be determined fill in will be established. Next, Both Spencer and Chris were unable to
hook up with our network so they are being changed into guest bloggers, thanks
to everyone. Also since we all took a
holiday break there hasn’t been any posts in awhile but as Kirk says in Star
trek II “here they come” (in response to khan asking for Genesis info (kirk
fired and severely crippled the reliant) get ready!
Andray’s Business
Okay I am not sure how many of you remember the 2010 NBA
season’s famed Arenas gun scandal that ended with a super star being arrested
and the start of his career fade. But
anyway nobody remembered that the rebuilding Wizards sent away literally any
potential value player. Antawn Jamison
for Big Z (and a first), Butler and Haywood for Torn ACL, F/A Josh Howard and
finally the famed Gilbert Arenas deal where Arenas was sent to Orlando for
Rashad Lewis (who they cut).
The team then let most players go and replaced them with
Quiton Ross, Andray Blatche, John Wall, Jordan Crawford and Nick Young. Since then the team has changed alort but in
that 2010 season Blatche averaged 19 PPG and 7 REB now after a mid career fade
he’s back. Averaging an impressive 22
PPG 8 REB, 2 STL, 2 AST and 1 BLK Andray Blatche turned into a NY Net
starter. Blatche’s emergence isn’t
surprising we’ve always knew he was talented but this ios amazing. If Blatche can continue this production as a
starter I think he is worthy of MIP or most improved player, which is an award
given to players that have improved the most.
Blatche is known as a cheap backup journey man but this could make him a
sizeable asset. He is out playing
starter Kris Humphries but since Brook Lopez (a borderline all-star) is out at
center he is being used their.
Knicks on the Horizon
Also the 2011 signing of J.R Smith by the NY Knicks seems to
be genius, Smith is scoring 17 PPG
(career average of 13 PPG) and has multiple elite BOSS dunks early in this
season. He has filled the hole that
Landry Fields vacated. Fields was a
defensive specialist while Smith a scorer but Landry’s best season had 11.9 PPG
and he doesn’t bosses the athleticism or three point shot of Smith. This is one of the Reasons the Knicks have
been so good. Carmelo is carrying the
team on his shoulders and instead of putting work on Amare he is asked to be a
complement to Melo. They surrounded Melo
with an elite defensive front court (Chandler (1.7 BLK) and Amare (1.1 BLK))
and some boss Guards named Felton and Smith who are replacing Lin and
Fields. Personally Toronto over paid for
Fields (and about half their roster) and Lin was signed for a near mega deal by
McHale (I seriously didn’t get why he wasted 20 Million a Yr. on Omer Asik
(backup C) and Lin (9.9 PPG, 4.5 TO and 4.4 AST) . Anyway Smith and Felton cost 10 Million a yr.
combined half of what Asik and Lin cost combined. The Knicks worked the cap, coach and players
to their advantage and may easily finish with a better record then the
Celtics. I think you got to credit Mike
Woodson here he did a fantastic job.
Lakers Laughs
Screwed, that’s the best way to describe LA. After getting DH12 for their future and 20+ million
a yr. then nailing Nash for about 13 million
a yr. The Lakers now have average
players, former stars (old ones) and
lots of scrubs…. Have you heard of Robert Sarce, I haven’t, because of severe (8+ weeks out) injuries He
had to start at center. Jodie Meeks has
had to become a sizeable role player (he hasn’t done this much since his Philly
(a none playoff team at the time) days in 2009.
With Gasol their only tradable piece the Lakers are screwed. It is kinda odd though seeing the 2010, 2008
Finals teams sub .500 (Celtics and Lakers) Many people did see this coming
though. So back to LA. They need to adjust, Bynum and Howard are a
wash but Howard cost 7 million more, Nash hasn’t been healthy so former second
rd. pick Daruis Morris has been their PG and Kobe has had to score 32 PPG just
to win a game! LA is a joke. The clippers are know the best team in LA,
even though Griffen’s having an off year he’s still solid and Hill’s missed a
lot of time but despite this Butler, Billups, jamal Crawford, Willie Green,
DeAndre Jordan, Turiaf, CP3 and Bledsoe and former lakers Matt Barnes and Odom
are there too, damn there loaded.
Houston we don’t have
a problem
Kevin Mchale has made
a band of misfits into a contending team.
Former mid Rd. Pick became a solid starter, K-Mart went from star and
stud to Sixth man and Somehow Harden has become a franchise player. This team might make the playoffs form the
first time since the years of Yao (wow that’s a bad memory) The Rockets former Lottery pick named Patrick
Patterson is out playing number 2 overall pick Derrick Williams. Yah that’s
bad. Patterson has emerged as a real
starter and With No true star the Rockets, behind Harden are a decent team and
will make the playoffs.
Toronto Terror
With a huge salary
and limited assets Toronto is as screwed as well the Yankee’s but they didn’t win
a world series, So more like the Cubs.
Landry Fields is over paid, Amir Johnson, Andrea Barganni, Jose Calderon
are all on their way out and has ridiculous contracts for their limited
talent. Ed Davis and Demarr DeRozan are they’re
only real Assets so they should try to get as many picks as possible and
rebuild.
Imbaaaaaaka
The thunder are
surging behind Serge Imbaka, a scorching hot duo of Durant and Westbrook and
finally a platoon of veterans. Scott
Brooks has out done himself…. Again. Durant
scored a career high 52 Points and Westbrook still scored an impressive 32
points. How is it possible to please
both Durant and Westbrook? You must find a place in between. Both take 20 shots and both dominate. Sadly Russ still lacks the elite passing
skills and size to be your proto point but he is uber talented. The Thunder are truly the best team in the
league and the emergence of Serge is adding to that claim. The Heat have No one with Imbaka's size or
talent (Bosh is too small) so Expect the thunder to be a serious
contender.
The terrible Turiaf
Unlike fellow journey
man Andray Blatche (see story 1) Turiaf has battled injuries and out of shape-ness
his entire career. 2 broken legs, a
heart condition and 5 teams later Turiaf is on the Clippers. He once was considered an average starter but
that has since changed and he has become an average backup. His best chance at starting was with the D-League
warriors (coach Nelson’s nickname for his team with Reggie Williams, Andries
Biedrins, Turiaf, etc….) or the dream team Heat (with Joel Anthony as his only completion)
or even the Chris Mihm era lakers. He is the COMPLETE opposite of Blatche.
Trade Finders “Rudy
Gay”
The Grizzlies aren’t shipping
him but rumors are surfacing that ½ the league wants in on Gay. The athletic scorer is 27 years old with a
two year 10 million dollar a year deal so it’s reasonable. Gay might have Franchise level potential but
I seriously doubt Memphis fans, management or Hollins (coach) want to part with
an ideal team player and scorer. He is
versatile, peaking, and affordable and has decent passing skills.
