This year three major boom or busts have been both. but I am also following some other stories, including, the Blackhawks streak, Revis, Bryant and Miami heat/ Fins. And finally my report on the dennis rodman to Korea event. I also have info on the Bowe, Flacco, Brady and other signings. Finally my last piece includes stuff on Kruger, the Bears and Celtic addition summary.
NHL
Since a 2011 concussion Sidney Crosby went from top 2 to IR for almost 2 years. well he's back. In his last 5 games he has at least 1 point and is having a monster season. The once mega star may be the Penguins 2nd best player though since Malkin has stepped his game up in Crosby's absence. His reemergence is helping the penguins become a top team again. This is one of 2 hockey stories i am following the other being the blackhawks. Th Chicago blackhawks are 19 and 0 this season, after 2 down years since there amazing title run, the Hawks are a top team again. Lead by Kane and Toews they are young and elite. If the Hawks keep building they could win it all again. There streak is one of the longest in NHL history.
NBA
Another team on a streak is the Miami heat, 15 straight wins. The Bulls and Jordan had 18 and the Lakers and Magic had 16. The heat are closing in on modern record books. This is lead by D-Wades reemergence since starting the year ice cold. LeBron also is playing some of the best ball of his career. However to break the all time NBA record the need 33 wins. Wilt Chamberlain did this in 71 with the Lakers. The heat have 3 tough match ups left including Indiana (3 games away), Milwaukee (10 GA) and Boston (12 GA) then after that they have the Spurs (15 GA). Other than those teams this streak should be easy.Wesley Johnson, the #4 overall pick in 2010 by the timberwolves is one of the many screw ups by that franchise in the last 20 years including: letting KG go, letting big Al go, letting Gerald Green go, letting Steve Marbury go, letting Michael Beasly go, signing Darko Milinic, Letting Billups go, drafting Williams (derrick), signing Ridnour, letting Telfair go and finally letting Johnson go, this team really has made quite a few boner moves (which will all be in more detail in my next article) but this last was so bad. They over picked him, benched him and then traded him for virtually nothing, damn Rambis and Kahn suck. I really feel bad for Adleman (head coach). But any way Wesley has blossomed into a decent starter this year along with Marcin Gortat, a bench warmer from Orlando who blossomed with the suns. I just wonder what are the suns doing so right i mean look, Barbosa came in a 3rd stringer came out a sixth man. Gortat came in a bench warmer is still in a starter, Johnson the same and who cant forget Dragic, he was a great move. Came in a prospect came out a starter. Yes this team's cap issues have cost them big but even vets (grant hill, in role player out starter) do better i swear its super coaching. Speaking of cap issues, Rondo, Nat Robinson, Loul Deng and others were all "sold" from this team in cap moves.
Next up Kobe Bryant said something worthy of notation, if it were him imbaka hit (in the crotch) he would've "smacked him in the mouth" Tonight's Lakers thunder game will definitely have some added rivalry and heat, speaking of lakers that's our next topic, the lakers have changed from Bust to Boom with DH12 no longer having to deal with Gasol, he can do his business in a big way. Lead by Howard and Kobe LA has won 13 of 18, not to shabby. They might beat the Jazz out for the 8 seed. Other team battling include the Warrior and Curry, the Rockets and alot. Open seeds are 6, 7 and 8.
Also NBA news the Celtics, who still have a chance signed Shavlik Randolph, a scrub but big body. personally anyone like him or milinic is Marginal but along with the signings of D.J White (a thunder prospect and Terrence William's (a former lottery pick) and the trade for Crawford (another late 1st Rd. scorer) the Celtic's really upped they roster at the deadline. The best team in the east is Miami with Indiana, Boston, Alanta, the Bucks and NY all pretty good. White is a talent but injury prone, Randolph is a scrub, Williams is a great talent and all round player, Crawford is a pure shooter.
Final the Dennis Rodman in Korea, this isn't really sports and its kinda out dated so i am just going to sum it up. Dennis Rodman, yes the eccentric former NBA player, became the first U.S citizen to meet North Korea's ruler. He traveled there and watch some Korean style basketball. (que gangam style) He said " Obama and (insert Korea's leader name here) should sit down and watch some NBA together they both like basketball that's a place to start, isn't it". Rodman went on to say that he liked him and that the guy was "cool" he also said he is going back.
Oh, i forgot, Andrew Bynum for Iggy, worst deal ever. Both have sucked this year. Bynum might never get to play for the 6ers and trust me they gave up an all star and face of the franchise for him. This off season he will be demanding top notch center money. Expect him to land a mega deal with the highest bidder ( Orlando?)
NFL
Next up the Miami dolphins are making headlines in 2 WR fronts, first they have been talking in depth to yardage leader Brian Hartline and are also the front runner for Mike Wallace. Other teams vying for Wallace are the Vikings (who may trade Harvin) and the Browns (who need a QB). The Fins are also linked to packers WR Jennings. The fins are looking to trade Matt Moore and use Tannehill as there QB of the future. Speaking of Moore, the Browns have also been linked to him, Mallet and both of there present QB's. In other QB news Nick Foles has been linked to the Jets, Cassel to the Cards and Garrard to the jets. The Bears are an aging defensive team but with management adding an elite TE and better O-Line they could be great. Early reports have linked them to Jared cook. Cook, is a great passing TE with elite blocking but has been under used and argues that he played more at WR last season thus avoiding the franchise tag. He wont resign with the titans so the Bears, who's own TE, Kellen Davis, struggled, are real suitors.
The Patriots are working hard on resigning welker and remain the favorite but here's a quick recap of other deals so far this off season-
