Celtics trade overview

The Celtics have begun the long (but hopefully effective) rebuilding process.  About a week ago they waived the rights to retain longtime head coach doc rivers and in exchange the clippers gave them a first rd. pick.  If you ask me that's a good haul for a coach who's not coming back to Boston anyways.  This move is similar to what the bruins did last year with tim Thomas (trade his rights for a pick).  The Celtics Then preceded to break up the remnants of the 08 champs.  When rivers was HC he made it clear that Ainge (the GM) couldn't break up the team.  But with rivers out danny started dealing.  He shipped a package of Garnett, Pierce and Terry to the Nets in exchange for 3 first Rd. Picks (yah that's a lot), Kris Humphries, Gerald Wallace, Kieth Bogans and Marshoon Brooks.   A few UDFA were thrown in.   UDFA are undrafted rookies who signed training camp contracts.  The Celtics I thin kwon the trade.  The dumped a declining Pierce and Terry and received An injury prone Celtics style Gerald Wallace and young + Athletic Marshoon brooks.  Though Immediately it is a loss in the long term its a victory.  Also the Kris Humphries for Garnett I think is a solid acquisition.  Garnett is a borderline all-star who is old and on the verge of retirement.  Although I am a huge KG fan Humphries has post 2013 value while KG doesn't.  Humphries is also a decent PF.   Bogans is another Celtic like player.  The Celtics made a great move if you ask me.  This trade holds plenty of similarities to the 2011 trade of Kendrick Perkins, which if I must say, was a great move.   Again I am a huge perk fan, but he is now a boarder line starter while Jeff Green is a borderline all-star.

The Players

Wallace- A fast break beast and defensive minded Forward he is 6'8.  a 2010 allstar and a true work horse from 09-11 (over 38 MPG)  Wallace was prominent with the Bobcats in 2008-2010.  Nicknamed crash because he over hustles and is often injured.  Last year didn't mess with the Nets and shot poorly from outside the Key.  Doesn't really have 3pt range.  Can hit a mid ranged J.   10 M contract.

Bogans-  A injury plagued an aging swing man.  He is a savy veteran who has spent the last few years in Chicago, San Antonio and Brooklynn.   Bogans started his career as a up and coming role player with the Magic and was crucial in their borderline championship team in 2009.   He is a defensive orientated player who can drill a jump shot, especially from downtown.  He has decayed a lot in recent years and will battle for the 11th/12th spot.

Humphries-  Married Kim Kardashian.   Which distracted him form basketball and has over shadowed his career.   Was a borderline all-star a few years ago.  Undersized for center.  Effective inside the paint and good rebounder.  May be locker room distraction.

Brooks-  Originally drafted by the Celtics. Athletic.  Young.   Averaged 12.6 PPG when he started two years ago (rookie season)  Still developing outside shot.  Oversized SG.  Good ball handling.
