Offseason Frenzy

as you probably know the NBA offseason is well under way.  The biggest headlines include guys like KG, Dwight Howard, Josh Smith and Iggy.   I have created a list of all the Major moves thus far in order by importance.  please note draft day deals and picks are NOT included. The list ends at 35.

#1  Josh Smith
PF/SF signs with Pistons (4Yrs, 14M a year)

Dominating defender and solid PF.  He now has 2 Big men to play with and should see a plenty of SF minutes.   A nice team friendly deal too!

#2 Dwight Howard
C/PF signs with Rockets (4Yrs, 21.9 M a year)

A highly overrated player gets a hefty contract with 24/7 news coverage.  DH12 made a stink and was well rewarded by the rockets and the Media.

#3 Al Jefferson
C/PF signs with Bobcats (3 Yrs, 13.9M a year)

Never lived up to his draft day potential....  Still an elite all-star big but hasn't been the same since Timber wolf days.

#4 Andrew Bynum
C signs with Celtics (2yrs, 12M a year)

Great center but fragile.  Philly took a chance and it cost them dearly.... Will Cleveland suffer the same fate?

#5 Kevin Garnett
PF/C The Celtics trade KG to the Nets.

THANK YOU FOR 17
A great all around forward.  He is aging but remains a solid starting PF or center.   He is replacing Kris Humphries (#15)..

#6 Andre Igudala
SG/SF signs with the warriors (4 yrs, 12 M a year)

Once a longtime Philly star he has become a solid point forward with the nuggets and now warriors.  He is a HUGE upgrade to unlisted Richard Jefferson or rookie Harrison Barnes.

#7 Paul Millsap
PF signs with the Hawks (2yrs, 9.5M a year)

One of the best sixth men of this era..... He played 8+ years for the Jazz before departing for Atlanta where he should thrive.

#8 Tyreke Evans
SG/SF the Kings trade Tyreke to the Pelicans

The Maloof's (team owners)  Thought Tyreke was the next big thing but attitude issues and poor shooting cost him that gig and they received Gervis Vasquez (#14) for him.

#9 Kevin Martin
SG signs with the Timberwolves ( 4yrs, 7 M a year)

A hustler in Sacramento years ago he became a journeyman but looks to find a longtime home in a nice team friendly deal with the up and coming Minnesota team.  He is an upgrade to the Andrei Kirlenko he is helping replace (#16)

#10 Eric Bledsoe
PG/SG the Clippers traded him to the Suns

A super athletic and young PG with star potential.   He is the first PG on this list and the best (in my mind).

#11 Jeff Teague
PG re-signs with the Hawks (4 yrs., 6M a year)

Once considered the next great PG and future of the hawks franchise.   He never lived up to that but he signed a nice team friendly contract and is a viable PG.

#12 Manu Ginobilli
SG/SF Re-signs with Spurs (2yrs, 7M a year)

An aging a decaying SG.  Manu is a fan favorite with solid sixth man talent.  Honestly this deal isn't great but the facts are that the spur fan base loves him soooo much!

#13 Pelicans (Team)
The Hornets change their name to the Pelicans (Worst name ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Wow.... That sucks.... CP3 (Chris Paul) goes down as the best Hornet ever!

#14 Gervis Vasquez
PG/SG  The Pelicans (Hornets) trade G-V to the Kings

A nice consolidation price for Tyreke Evans.  Vasquez is a small SG but the Maloof's want him to try it there.   He will a solid starting PG over Isaiah Thomas this season.

#15 Kris Humpries
PF the Nets trade Kim Kardashians ex to the Celtics

Once a solid all-star caliber rebounder he took a step back because of off court distractions (Kim Kardashian!)  but he will look to bounce back in the final year of his contract.

#15 Paul Pierce
SF/SG the Celtics trade Pierce to the Nets

Thank you for 17
Once an All NBA scorer Pierce is now a solid wingman but his defense is below average now and both Andrei Kirlenko and Joe Johnson will play 30ish minutes a game.  He is replacing #20 Gerald Wallace

#16 Andrei Kirlenko (AK-47)
SF/PF signs with the Nets (1 YR, 1.1M)

His talent level is in the early 20's on this list but the 31 yr. old could've asked for 8+ Million but another Russian (yes AK47 is Russian), Mikael Prokhorov (Nets Owner), convinced him to come along in an attempt to win a ring.

#17 Darren Collision
PG signs with the Clippers (2 yrs, undisclosed per year)

Struggled last year with Dallas after having a solid year replacing an injured Chris Paul in 2011.   I can't be exact but he declined a 4.5 M 1 yr. option so I expect this deal to be about 7-10 M over 2 yr.  He replaces Chauncey Billups (#34

#18 Doc Rivers (HC)

Thank you for 17
Rivers is a solid coach and I thank him for banner 17 but seriously ill take a 1st Rd. pick for him any day.  He never let Danny Ainge break up the big three and it almost cost us.

#19 Jarrett Jack
PG/SG signs with the Cavs (4 yrs, 6.25 M)

Jack is a journey man but a good one.  He is a solid PG with a great outside J.

#20 Gerald Wallace
SF/PF the Nets traded Crash to the Celtics

Wallace embodies the qualities the Celtic fans love.  rebounds, hustle points (Tommy points) and good defense.  Wallace will also bring an elite fast break game to the Celtics new type of game.  He struggled last year but look for a bounce back as the Celtics new sixth man.

#21 J.J Reddick
SG/SF signs with the clippers (4 Yrs. 6.75 M a yr.)

He would be much higher on this list if this contract was team friendly but he is really more a 4M a year talent.   He is still not half the player he was in college.  He is replacing Caron Butler (#22)

#22Caron Butler
SF/SG The suns

Tuff Juice still isn't the same player since his wizard days but he is a solid player yet.  He can get physical or hit the outside J.  His 8M a year is a hefty price though

#23 Jared Dudley
SF/SG the suns traded Jared to the clippers

A solid winger, Dudley may not be as notable as the man he is helping replace (Caron Butler #22) but he was the only part of the trade for Bledsoe that the clippers actually won!

#24 Tony Allen
SG/SF re-signs with Grizzlies, (4 yrs, 5 M)

A great wing defender and hustler tony Allen may not be the young player he was in 2012 but he signed a perfect deal that will bring him to age 34.

#25 Andray Blatche
PF/C re-signs with the nets (1 yr, 1.1 M)

He wouldn't be this high on the list but his deal is amazing, just like Kirlenko. He is just a role player but he could be the nets sixth man if the Jet (up next) doesn't pan out.

#26 Jason Terry
SG/PG the Celtics traded him to the nets.

A great clutch player and always a fan favorite.  He isn't what he was in 2006 or 2008 when he was a starter or sixth man of the year.   The jet also has a decent contract compared to Kobe Bryant or Manu Ginobilli.

#27 Chris Kaman
C signed with the Lakers (1 yr, Undisclosed amount)

Since his 2009 allstar appearance he has decayed to a borderline starter.  Back in 2004-2010 he started in LA (clippers) so his mojo might comeback.

#28 Marco Belinelli
SG signs with the spurs (2 yrs, 3 M a year)

Marco has some talent and some potential but needs to work on the defensive side of the ball to earn a serious amount of playing time.   Playing on a nice deal about right for his talents and on a team with a player like Manu should be a good fit.

#29 Chase Budinger
SF/PF Re-signs with wolves (3 yrs, 5.333M a year)

At first people thought he was a future star but he is really just a role player.  The Wolves really overpaid for him after AK47 (#16) left but the addition of Kevin Martin overlooked the re-signing of budinger.

#30 Jose Calderon
PG signs with the Mavs (4 yrs, 7.25M a year)

Once he was a raptors fan favorite but he fell out of favor and was shipped first to Grizzlies and then the Pistons.  He will  spend this year as Dallas' starter and may fit in perfectly like Jason Kidd did 3 years ago.

#31 Earl Clark
C/PF/SF signs with the Cavs (2 yr, 4.5M a year)

A solid hustler and great defender.  He was considered a bust with the Magic in 2008-10 but found new life with the Lakers and suns.   Now he is a backup big at an affordable price in Cleveland.

#32 Randy Foye
SG/PG The Warriors traded Foye to the Nuggets

Foye used to be a solid role player but needs to improve his skill set to be truly useful again. His lack of passing also has forced teams to use him as a 2 much more than they would have liked.

#33 Marshoon Brooks
SG the nets traded brooks to the Celtics

A young gunner.  Brooks averaged 12+ PPG in his rookie year as a starter so he has scoring potential but took a step back as a backup last year.   He isn't as good as Jason Terry (#26) the man he will replace.

#34 Chauncey Billups
PG/SG signs with the pistons (2 yrs, 2.5M a yr.)

A former Pistons finals MVP (04)  he is coming back in a deal similar to what Ben Wallace did in 2011.  Billups had about 7 all star caliber seasons during his long career and as he is winding down he ends up with the team he played his best with.

#35 Matt Barnes
SF re-signs with clippers (3 yrs, 3.67 M a yr.)

Moderately talented tough player.  He is a good hustler and solid backup but they overpaid for him.  (example #16 Andrei Kirlenko, who is similarly talented but received 1.1 M)
