The Biogenesis scandal has arguably the 3rd biggest sports related event of the last 30 days and fourth biggest in the last year (don't forget Hernandez, Armstrong and Riley Cooper). Let's start from the beginning. Last season Ryan Braun, Bartolo Colon, Yasmani Grandal and Melky Cabrerra were all involved in what appeared to be a related event. Braun got off on a technicality but the others were suspended. This event has since appeared to be linked to the Biogenesis clinic in Miami. Typically I wouldn't care about location so much but A-rod, who was later linked, was from Miami and went to college Their. Now for those of you that don't know the steroid era is over, PEDs now included Synthetic testosterone, deer Antler spray ( Ray Lewis) and HDH. This substances are all banned from baseball and some of the other major sports. After last season Major League Baseball became aware of a list the contained the names of everyone who had used PEDs at the Biogenesis clinic. They attempted to get the list but a then unnamed party attempted to buy and destroy it. Eventually the Biogenesis scandal became a federal affair similar to the 2001 Mitchell report. This time though A-rod didn't admit to taking steroids or PEDs he was on the list and was the party who attempted to damage evidence in a federal investigation. Now after days of negotiating with Roger Godell and the rest of MLB it appears that A-rod will be suspended or blacklisted like the black sox and Pete rose. Personally I think a lifetime ban ( different than suspension, no baseball involvement ) Is apporiate, but the orioles and me think that the yanks are just trying to get outta a-rods horrible contract. A-rod thinks that there is a agenda against him but didnt call the yanks out. My biggest question is what happens to the rest of the players involved... Here is the list:
